Student Nutrition Services Manager: Ms. Tracy Harp
 Phone: 227-5179

Your Cape Henlopen School Nutrition Staff welcomes both you and your family to a new school year.  If you are new to the district, please call and/or stop by the Nutrition Services Office in your child's school and get to know your Nutrition Services staff.  We welcome your comments and suggestions.  The Nutrition Services Office is located in the rear of the Ninth Grade Campus building, across from the cafeteria.  The office is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Our phone number is 645-1442.  Please call or stop by.  Our goal is to make your child's dining experience a positive part of each day!

Our non-profit program operates on a self-supporting basis.  Food costs, labor, equipment, and other expenses incurred as a result of operations are paid for with income received from program sales.  In additions, part of every child's meal is supported financially through U.S. Department of Agriculture federal reimbursement as well as through a small supplement from state funds for salaries.  The Child Nutrition Program services are an integral part of your child's educational experience.

Entrees - A lunch consists of a choice of entree (the advertised menu, 8 ounces yogurt, choice of sandwich, or freshly made protein salad) plus the advertised "sides" plus choice of milk.

Milk - Milk choices consist of 1% low fat white and low fat chocolate, skim, and strawberry flavored.  Is your child lactose intolerant?  We can get lactose-free milk for you.

Fruit - We offer daily fresh fruit, 100% fruit juice, and canned fruits packed in light syrup.

Vegetables - Our vegetables are steamed, seasoned lightly, and batch cooked.  This means that we do not prepare vegetables in bulk.  They lose color and have a mushy texture when prepared in bulk.  All potato products are oven baked.  The Cape Henlopen School District Student Nutrition Services does not use deep fat fryers.

Soups - The only soups in a can we use are tomato and the clam chowders.  The rest are made from scratch!  The favorite is chicken noodle and is offered more often than others because the kids do love it!

A La Carte Items - A few of the a la carte items will include: stick pretzels, reduced fat cookies, teddy grahams, sherbet cups, and bottled water.
